Summary

Circuit breaker time-travel testing can be performed using various types of test equipment. This 36-minute DVD describes three types of test equipment, and the basic steps for testing circuit breakers using each type.

  • Time-Travel Test Equipment – 9 minutes
    Identifies the main components of a drop-bar recorder and describes the principles of how it works. Identifies the main components of a light-beam recorder, and describes the principles of how it works. It also identifies the main components of a digital timer/analyzer, and describes the principles of how it works.
  • Drop-Bar Recorder Testing – 10 minutes
    Lists the basic steps for preparing a breaker for time-travel testing and making it safe to work on. Describes the basic steps for setting up a drop-bar time-travel recorder for testing an oil circuit breaker. Describes the basic steps for performing the time-travel test using a drop-bar recorder.
  • Light-Beam Recorder Testing – 9 minutes
    Describes the basic steps for setting up a light-beam time-travel recorder for testing a circuit breaker. Describes the basic steps for performing the time-travel test using a light-beam recorder.
  • Digital Timer/Analyzer Testing – 7 minutes
    Describes the basic steps for setting up a digital time-travel analyzer for testing a circuit breaker. Describes the basic steps for performing the time-travel test using a digital timer/analyzer.
